Core Features

A compact handheld thermal for finding game and checking fields without spending much. The TaipanV2 15-256 pairs a 256x192, 12 micron sensor with a 15 mm F1.0 lens for 2x base magnification and a wide 11.7 degree field of view, with digital zoom to 17.5x. It detects a 6 foot heat source to about 750 meters (820 yards), enough to pick up coyotes crossing a pasture or hogs working a field edge. The V2 update brought a removable, rechargeable 18650 battery (two included) for up to 7 hours, plus a tilt sensor that shuts the display off when you lower the unit. 50 Hz refresh, 16 GB of recording, Wi-Fi to the AGM Connect app, IP67 waterproof, and AGM's 5-year transferable warranty.

256 Sensor and 15 mm Lens

The 256x192 VOx detector has NETD under 35 mK and runs at 50 Hz. The 15 mm F1.0 fixed-focus lens needs no focusing and covers 20.5 x 15.4 meters at 100 meters. Magnification steps through 2x, 4x, 9x and 17.5x.

Display and Image Controls

A 1280x960 LCOS display behind a wide rubber eyecup, 20 mm eye relief and -4 to +4 diopter adjustment. Four palettes (Black Hot, White Hot, Red Hot, Fusion), General and Compressed scene modes, cold and warm tone settings, picture-in-picture, hot track and a stadiametric distance measurement tool.

Recording and App

Video with audio and still capture save to 16 GB of built-in memory. The Wi-Fi hotspot streams the view to a phone through the AGM Connect app and transfers files.

Power

One removable 18650 Li-ion runs up to 7 hours at 25 degrees C with Wi-Fi off; a second battery is in the box. The USB Type-C port accepts a 5 V / 2 A power bank, and the tilt sensor turns the screen off automatically to save battery.

Durability

Rubber overmolded housing, IP67 waterproof, rated from -30 to +55 degrees C. It weighs 0.28 kg (0.61 lb) without the battery.
